Principal/Senior MySQL DBA -very competitive base salary!!

My client needs a MySQL expert. Not someone that has done some MySQL…someone who lives it. They are looking for someone who has experience in implementing and managing an enterprise level MySQL environment.

They are looking for a smart, creative and proactive professional to join their Database Services Team. This team supports a wide variety of development, QA and production databases using: MySQL, Oracle, SQL Server, and DB2 UDB.

Responsibilities Include:

•Develop creative SQL for assistance with customer support and production issues.

•Grasp logical model concepts to create performance oriented structures and SQL.

•Suggest options for tuning database configuration, structure and SQL.

•Provide DBA services including installations, backups, loads and schema alterations for all Constant Contact production and QA databases.

•Contribute to database planning efforts such as disaster recovery design, tool selection, warehousing and scaling initiatives.

•Provide SQL and data model expertise to Business Analysts and other data mining users.

•Assist and develop internal DBA standards.

•Develop operating specific (Unix/Linux) scripts to automate DBA functions.

•Develop and implement database standards and infrastructure.

•Teach and/or Mentor junior DBA’s.

Requirements: •B.S. Computer Science or equivalent •5-7+ years industry experience managing MySQL databases •Excellent knowledge of Structured Query Language •Experience working on Linux/Unix •Familiarity with shell programming •Excellent verbal and written communication skills •Team oriented

Additional Skills: •Experience with MySQL (or other) replication •Experience with MySQL usage as an “enterprise” database •Previous experience with another DBMS •Previous experience converting other DBMS’s to MySQL
